One consideration that is reviewed more closely by Green Builders (LEED) is Embodied Energy. QADUCT's embodied energy methodology is two parts, one the PE material enveloping air flow stores a small amount of energy. As the air system temperature various as in a heating or cooling cycle the total ambiance already has a head start. Also QADUCT incorporates the least amount of interrelated economic activities to reach a result greater than what could be achieved by any other type material like PVC coated galvanized ducting in R-10 wrapping.
Specifications
The ductwork components come with R8 wrap that is pre-cut
for easy installation. Pipes are available in 8 foot lengths
they are light and easy to manage and can easily be cut to
needed lengths if necessary. The R8 insulation sleeve is
provided to be pre-installed external to the duct being
hinged or pulled through truss, so there will be no risk of
fiber-glass in the air steam. See below list
FLAME AND SMOKE RATING
QADUCT wall thicknesses of 1/4" (6.35mm) and below has a
flame spread rating of 25 or less and a smoke development
rating of 50 or less as tested by ASTM E84 Method of Testing
entitled: “Surface Burning Characteristics of Building
Materials. QADUCT is acceptable for use in duct/plenum
applications meeting the requirements of UL181.
Numerical flammability ratings alone may not define the
performance of products under actual fire conditions. They
are provided only for use in the selection of products to
meet limits specified, when compared to a known standard.
