U.S.
Code Acceptance
The UL 181 Listing with was granted for this
proprietary composite material. The duct is
manufactured using a novel extrusion technology,
which assures that the exposed air surfaces are pure
poly and very smooth. It is produced with the same
food grade material that is used to make water
bottles and milk jugs. This is the first plastic
duct system that has met the stringent smoke and
flame testing standards required for HVAC
applications above-ground and under roof.
Product
Characteristics
QADUCT™ is an engineered high-density polyethylene
based duct system shipped with an R8 insulating
sleeve cover already installed. The pre-insulated
approach in concert with the simple connecting
materials and techniques makes for significantly
reduced labor and ease of installation.
The product brings increased differentiation and
value to the HVAC industry in a number of notable
areas, (see the table right). Compared to typical
galvanized metal ducts or flex-duct alternatives,
the most significant advantage provided by QADUCT is
an air-tight and therefore more energy efficient
air-transfer system.

Installation
and Operating Costs
The return on investment is a full cycle result;
from installation to performance, QADUCT systems can
deliver a significant savings.
The overall installation cost is driven by design of
the system and the labor required, which can be
expected to be significantly reduced using QADUCT.
The installed system operating and maintenance costs
will be substantially lower also.
Reduced sized ducts and heating/cooling systems are
anticipated. The elimination of duct leakage
(typically 25-35%) should provide the industry with
ductwork efficiencies above 95% for the first time
ever.

QADUCT™
is all about healthy indoor air quality and its
design assures there are no particles or
fibers to come loose into the air
-stream, nor fibrous material to
collect moisture, bacteria and food sources that will allow mold and
mildew to grow and propagate in
the duct system.
![]()
This
is a significant step forward for assured Indoor
Air Quality (IAQ). The smooth closed-cell-polyethylene
surface does not even allow for harborage points for
mold and mildew to attach or to grow.
The
system also provides high thermal insulation,
acoustic dampening, low internal friction losses, a
strong but flexible structure, and non-metal,
rust-proof materials of construction.
The ductwork can incorporate recycled materials and
is made from non-toxic
food-grade plastic.

Unlike
flex-duct, this durable product is rigid in
structure, thus assuring reduced static losses, and
it can easily be washed and cleaned as well.
